How to send large video files to a client
Agree originals or review, measure both transfer rates and confirm receiver access before choosing a delivery route.
First agree the deliverable: original footage, final exports or a viewing copy. A smaller review file does not fulfil an agreement to deliver originals.
- Measure a sustained sender upload rate and the client's download rate.
- Ask about usable disk space, archive extraction and how many packages must stay on disk.
- Confirm provider limits, link access and expiry with the service you actually use.
- Compare the two transfer legs with the deadline. If considering a drive, obtain a real courier ETA.
A report can expose a missing assumption; it cannot guarantee a service's performance.
