How much free space does a video download need?
Budget the downloaded archive and its extracted copy separately; correct the receiver space before delivery.
Use free space on the actual destination disk, after reserving capacity for other work. Decimal GB and binary GiB differ; this planner uses decimal GB.
A 45 GB archive can need about 90 GB when the full archive remains while a complete 45 GB extraction is written. Multiple same-sized packages multiply that requirement. Some tools stream or clean up differently: confirm the actual packaging before changing the assumption.
If space fails, ask the receiver to free verified space or explicitly agree a smaller package. Do not silently substitute a review copy for originals.
